On our farm in Beit-Yitzhak you will get a chance to meet us, the farmers. We produce fresh, healthy and exotic fruits and vegetables, all year-round. Experience again, your connection to the earth, nature and the moshav, in a personal atmosphere.

As a farmer, I find myself each morning, exhilarated by the calm and beauty that I encounter amongst the plots of pineapple and dragon fruit plants, the fruit trees and leafy patches on the farm. Ever since my childhood I felt an almost magical power in the soil. We are a third generation farmers. I grew up on the farm in Beit-Yitzhak and today as I grow the crops around me, I get a sense of pleasure from the fact that my family and friends enjoy this fresh natural bounty.

We believe in working with nature. That is why we employ many of the agricultural husbandry principals of sustainable agriculture. We constantly try to balance our economic, health and future needs with those of the natural environment.

  • Raspberries

    Raspberries (Rubus)  are small berries, grown on perennial shrubs.  Usually raspberries grow in temperate climate areas and need a minimum amount of cold during the winter months in order to flower.  Raspberries taste sweet to sour and are great additions to fruit salads, cakes or jams.  Besides their great look and flavor, raspberries are very healthy for you.  They are rich in vitamins and anti-oxidants.

  • Orange

    Oranges (Citrus sinensis) are citrus fruits grown on trees.  Oranges are amongst the most common and popular citrus fruit all over the world.  The orange fruit is round and orange colored and tastes from sweet to sour.  Usually, oranges are eaten peeled fresh or consumed as freshly squeezed orange juice.  Oranges are rich in vitamin C and help your body fight common colds.  This extremely tasty and popular fruit snack is available fresh during the winter through summer, depending on the variety.  Oranges are used in many cooking and baking recipes, including their peels.

  • Nectarines

    Nectarines (Prunus persica nectarine) are a deciduous fruit tree.  Nectarins are different from peaches.  Their skin is hairless and smooth.  During spring and throughout summer nectarines ripen and must be picked every few days or be lost.

    Coconut (Cocos nucifera) is a palm tree.  It can grow to a height of 30 meters.  The fruit is very healthy for you.   Coconut is used both fresh and for baking and special beverages.  Even though coconuts are popular in Israel, they are not grown locally (the local climate precludes them).

  • Apple

    Apple (malus domestica) is deciduous fruit tree.  Apple season is dependent on the climate around the area of cultivation and the variety of apple tree.  Apples are probably one of the first domesticated fruit trees.  Apples are good for controlling cholesterol and preventing heart disease.  The apple peel is full of anti-oxidants as well.

  • Grapefruit

    Grapefruit (Citrus × paradise) is citrus fruit.  Grapefruits are juicy and healthy.  Grapefruit trees are beautiful and rich and can grow to a height of 6 meters. The fruit itself is yellow or pink (depending on the variety).  Grapefruits add to the abundance of flavors among citrus fruits in the winter time.

    Figs (Ficus carica) is a deciduous tree which can grow to a height of between 3 and 10 meters.  The tree needs a lot of water to thrive.  Figs are sweet and are rich in healthy nutritious compounds.  Figs have a long history and are mentioned in the Bible.  Fig season is from late spring through winter, depending on the variety.

  • Loquat

    Loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) or Japanese medlar is an evergreen fruit tree.  The loquat fruit is roundish and sweet to sour.  It has a short season.  From late April through may.  Loquat have carotenoids, vitamins and immune system strengthening compounds.

    Strawberries (Fragaria) are very popular.  The red sweet berries are sought after during winter, spring and increasingly they have made appearances during the summer as well.  Different varieties of strawberries have different shapes, tastes and shelf lives. This is one of the most known additions to deserts.

  • Peach

    Peach (Prunus persica) is a deciduous tree (it loses its foliage during the winter). Peach trees bloom beautifully in the spring time.  Peach flowers are pink and abundant.  Peaches are a healthy fruit and when ripe, they change color from green and their skin is “hairy”.  Peach season is from winter and well into summer because different varieties ripen at different times.

    Tropical Pineapple (ananas comosus) is the known as the king of fruits.

    In several cultures it signifies welcome to guests.  The pineapple is rich in colour and taste.  There are several varieties of pineapple grown in Israel.  It takes two years for a single pineapple fruit to grow.

    Avocado (Persea Americana) is well known is Israel.  Avocado trees grow to a hight of up to 15 meters.  This is a subtropical fruit tree and many avocado varieties are grown.  Avocado fruit is used by the cosmetics industry for its skin beneficial qualities.

    Grapes (Vitis vinifera) grow on grape vines.  Grapes are  come in many tastes, shapes, colors, and uses.  Many grapes are grown specifically for processing into wine.  Several varieties of grape vines are grown for what are known as table grapes, to be consumed fresh.  Some grapes are seedless and some have seeds in them.  The grapes sold to you at Holypine fruit and vegetable stands are table grapes and are farm fresh.

  • Cherries

    Cherries (Prunus subgenera Cerasus) is a seasonal fruit tree.  The fruit is small and has a hard stone.  Cherries are eaten both raw, canned or processed and is used as a topping for cakes, Salads, or added to Ice-creams, shakes etc…

    Cherries grow in the northern part of Israel since they require an amount of cold during winter in order to bloom.

    Organic lime (Citrus limettioides) is a citrus variety very similar to the lemon.  Limes are smaller fruit than lemons and their color is somewhat lighter.  Lime tastes a bit less sour than that of the lemon and a little bitter.  Organic lime at our stand is grown organically.

    Sweetie (Citrus paradisi x Citrus maxima) citrus is smaller than pomelo and larger than grapefruit.  It has a pleasant  taste and has won great popularity all over the world.  Like all citrus fruit, sweetie contains many vitamis and fibers.  These beautiful citrus fruits are great in fruit salads and as a standalone snack.

  • Mulberry

    Mulberry (Morus) is a tall berry bearing tree.  The berries are usually small, delicate and sweet.  There are several varieties of mulberries; Long mulberries, white mulberries, red mulberries and black mulberries to name just a few.   Their season is dependent on the variety and local.  These berries are not only tasty, but very healthy for you.  They are filled with antioxidants and vitamins, although they do not last long after being picked.

  • Dragon Fruit

    Dragon fruit or Pitahaya, has many scientific names for the different family groups (Ceraus, Acanthocereus, Echinocereus, Hylocereus, Selenicereus, Stenocereus, Escontria, Myrthillocactus) .  it is a fruit that grows on a cactus vine.  The outer skin of the dragon fruit is usually red when ripe.  Some varieties of Pitahaya are yellow on the outside.

    Dragon fruit is very healthy.  It contains vitamins, minerals, nutritional fibers and is great to relieve constipation.  Pitahaya is great fresh and is used in ice-cream and liquor production.  The flowers of the dragon fruit  plant are huge.  About the size of a persons’ head.

    Feijoa (Feijoa sellowiana)  is a small green fruit that grows on a type of bush.  The fruit is tasty and contains vitamin C.  feijoa fruit is green on the outside and remains that way even when it is ripe.  Ripe feijoa is somewhat softer than unripe fruit.  The fruit can be used in healthy smoothies or eaten fresh.

  • Persimmon

    Persimmon (Diospyros kaki) is a seasonal fruit tree belonging to the deciduous tree family (Ebenaceae family.  it loses its leaves in winter).  Persimmon trees are not large and the fruit is orange colored.  Most of the crop is exported and is considered a very high quality fruit.  Many persimmon varieties exist.  Often, post harvest treatment of the fruit includes a process to help the fruit mature and allow its great taste to come to the fore.

    Passion fruit (Passiflora edulis)  is an exotic popular fruit, that grows on a vine.  It tastes sweet and sour and has several healthy attributes.  Passion fruit is rich in vitamins A, C and has nutritional fiber as well.  Passion fruit vines are green all year around and give fruit twice a year.  They are great in shakes, ice-cream and juice.

  • Bananas

    Chestnut pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo) is a small variety of pumpkin or gourd grown in Israel.  Pumpkins come in many kinds of shapes, sizes, tastes and colors.  Chestnut pumpkin is green and yellow and its shell is hard.  The edible portion of the pumpkin is inside the shell and it is used for cooking and baking.  Chestnut pumpkin has received a lot of interest in the last few years.

  • Nopalitos

    Nopalitos (Opuntia ficus-indica) is a cactus.  Its young leaves grow completely thornless.  These young leaves are the nopalitos’ plants edible part.  Nopalitos resembles the cactus pear plant, but should not be confused with cactus pears.  Even though it is a cactus, it grows naturally in the jungles of central and southern America.  Nopalitos leaves have been used for thousands of years by the local populations as an additive in cooking many of their dishes.

    Nopalitos is rich in  nutritional fiber, vitamins and minerals.  It has been found to be a wonder food for fighting infections, diabetes, cholesterol levels and other ills.

    Because of the high fiber content, nopalitos are great for giving a filling sensation and are therefore suited for weight loss diets.

  • Mint

    Mint (Mentha) the widely popular aromatic herb is held in high esteem around the world.  There are about 30 different varieties of mint in use around the globe.  Of these, only 4 are grown in Israel.  Mint is a perennial plant, which flowers in the summer.   It is mainly used in tea for its aroma and for a host of medicinal uses.  For example; mint is used to alleviate stomach aches, nausea, colds, headaches and more.  It is advisable top prune the flower buds and the plant. That way growth resumes with vigor.

    Kohlrabi (Brassica oleracea var. gongylodes) is a root vegetable.  It is quite tasty when fresh.  Kohlrabi is very nutritious because it is low in calories and rich in vitamins, fibers, minerals and is very popular in weight loss diet programs.  Oddly, the kohlrabi leaves are even more nutritious than the root.

  • Zucchini

    Zucchini (Cucurbita pepo var. cylindrical) is a soft vegetable.  Zucchini grows on a creeping plant and can be single green colored or striped, yellow or different hues of green according to the different virieties.  The best time to harvest zucchini is when it young and small.  Then the seeds are still soft and edible.  If zucchini is allowed to remain and grow on the plant, it can reach quite a large size.  Although it is quite popular, the zucchini does not have a high nutritional value.
